It’s another Saturday and another day of fine Spanish action, with one of the biggest European football derbies on offer on Saturday night. I will be watching with interest, and have made a few selections across the Spanish game:

Valencia v Sociedad Sat 5.00pm
My first choice from Saturdy’s games comes from this clash between 10th placed Valencia and 12th placed Sociedad. Valencia have won 5/6 of their home games in La Liga this season, and drew the other leaving them with an unbeaten home record.
Sociedad have won only 1/6 away from home, losing 4 of the others. Valencia have claimed the scalp of Athletico Madrid at home and have excelled in the champions league at the same venue.
I can only see them beating a poor-travelling Sociedad side. Another interesting stat in this game is that in all six home games in la liga this season, Valencia have scored two or more goals, and in 5/6 of Sociedad’s away games they have managed to concede at least the same number. This makes my second selection of Valencia over 1.5team goals at 4/6 a great statistical bet.
Bets: Valencia win at 3/5, Valencia over 1.5 team goals 4/6 – Bet365
Real Madrid v Athletico Madrid 9.00pm Sat
This, for me, is the absolutely unmissable game of the weekend played all weekend and promises to be an exciting affair. Personally, I have found it too tough to call in terms of a winner, but there may be value in this game yet.
This should be a real end-to-end affair, and both teams to like to put the ball in to the box from the wings to Falcao and Higuain/Benzema. Also, Madrid’s home games have averaged around 13.5 corners in the current La Liga season when playing at home, while Athletico’s away games have averaged just over 11 corners.
Given the stats and the expected bombardment of each goal, the odds of evens on offer for there to be over 11 corners in the game looks great value.
Bet: Over 11 Total Corners at evens – Bet365
Gijon v Las Palmas Sat 5.00pm
My final choice of the Saturday games is one which should be treated as a value bet and I will be backing as a single only.
Las Palmas are unbeaten in their last 9 games in all competitions and are one of the form teams of the moment in the Segunda division. Gijon, after somewhat of a revival are now five games without a win and are in danger of falling back to the relegation battle.
Gijon have won only 3/7 of their home games in the current season, while Las Palmas have only lost the same ratio away from home. Given the stats and the current form of these two teams, the 13/5 on offer for a Las Palmas victory is huge value, but I am playing safe and going for the 6/4 offered for draw no bet.
Bet: Las Palmas Draw no Bet at 6/4 – Bet365
Good luck if you get on!
