Saturday 28th Jan Accumulator Selections – Trust Torquay To Profit

Looking through Saturday’s fixture list, it strikes me as a hard week to tip up  a banker bet. I’ve had to delve into the Blue Square Premier as well as Scotland to make a fourfold I’m truly happy with, but the end result is a nice little acca which is a very confident bet.

Torquay v Northampton

Torquay are the form team of League 2 at present, collecting 16 points from their last 6 games and conceding just 6 goals in the process.

Recent wins over Morecambe, Macclesfield, Plymouth and high flying Swindon have boosted The Gulls up to 6th position in the league, just 8 points behind leaders Southend.

Meanwhile Northampton have won just once in their last 17 games in all competitions, form which has left them rooted to the foot of league 2, making relegation a serious threat.

Grimsby v Telford

The Mariners are another team in great form, with 5 wins from their last 6 games. They face struggling Telford who have managed just 1 solitary win on their travels so far this season.

Grimsby are mounting a serious play-off challenge while Telford look set for lower table obscurity, without the threat of relegation.

There are just too many positives for Grimsby here, making them an obvious selection for accumulators.

Aberdeen v Dunfermline

The Dons are beginning to get their act together, and should be too good for a desperate Dunfermline team that are shipping goals like they are going out of fashion.

Aberdeen haven’t scored too many recently, albeit against tougher teams than Dunfermline.

Conceding 12 goals in their last 5, Dunfermline can expect to be playing First Division football next season if they don’t buck up soon… and that looks unlikely.

West Brom v Norwich

I’ve been singing Norwich’s praise all season but think they may come unstuck against The Baggies here.

West Brom impressed me in their win over Stoke at the weekend, and can avenge the defeat Norwich gave them in the league a fortnight ago.

Norwich boss Paul Lambert will be ringing the changes here in order to keep his team fresh, and West Brom can take advantage and knock them out of the cup.
