Premier League Darts 2016: Week 4
Thursday 25th February. 7PM. Sky Sports 1
Week four of this year’s Premier League darts sees the action head to Scotland, and the home crowd will be eager to cheer their king of the oche onto victory in Aberdeen.
With an all-Scottish affair and three other clashes to sink our teeth into, it’s set to be another cracking event at GE Gas & Oil Arena and we’ll be hoping to capitalise on the drama with a couple of winning bets.
Let’s play darts.
King Anderson Takes On Raymond van Barneveld
World champion Gary Anderson heads back to Scotland still seeking his first win of the 2016 campaign after two defeats and a withdrawal so far, and the energy of Aberdeen should give the defending Premier League champion an extra incentive against RVB.
The Dutchman is in good form after winning two of his three opening matches, including last week’s win over another Scotsman in Robert Thornton. However, Van Barneveld did lose to Peter Wright in Newcastle; if Anderson performs to his maximum, the home favourite should have a great chance of victory.
Anderson does face some pressure, but his game in hand means he still has plenty of time to turn it around. He would love to do that on home soil. Quite frankly, a repeat of his 106 three-dart average against Michael van Gerwin would almost certainly see the Flying Scotsman break his duck.
Whatever happens, it should be a cracking contest.
Thornton V Wright In Mouth-Watering Showdown
The other headline fixture of the night sees the other two home favourites collide as Snakebite take on the Thorn. Both men could give their Premier League campaigns a massive boost by winning this contest, and it should be an absolute cracker.
Wright is the more consistent performer, but Thornton is more than capable on his day. The Thorn will need to bring his A game to have any chance here. However, the cracking atmosphere in Aberdeen should make for a phenomenal showdown either way.
Elsewhere, Michael Smith is in desperate need for a win but couldn’t ask for a more difficult clash as he takes on Michael van Gerwin. Meanwhile, the night’s opening match sees Adrian Lewis take on James Wade in what has the potential to be another classic.
The other match sees Phil Taylor look to follow up last week’s win over Anderson with another victory against Dave Chisnall. Whatever happens, that should be an intriguing battle to say the least.
It’s set to be a cracking night in Aberdeen. We wouldn’t want to miss it for the world.
Premier League Darts: Week 4 Betting
We’ve picked up back-to-back winners in with our primary bets, and we’ll be looking to extend that perfect run with a third winning selection on week four. However, this week, we’re going for a double.
Taylor will be fancied to grab the victory against Chisnall, but Chizzy should outscore the Power in terms of scoring maximums. Meanwhile, we’re also backing MVG to claim the most 180s as he takes on Smith.
There’s no guarantees, but 7/4 on this double has to be worth a punt.
[quote_center]Dave Chisnall most 180s and MVG most 180s @ 7/4 with SkyBet[/quote_center]We’re also looking to capitalise on the Betfred acca insurance by backing the result in each match.
If only one leg lets us down, we will gain a refund. And if all five selections are right, we’ll be celebrating the jackpot. Here we go.
