Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad this Sunday, and will hope to bounce back after their first Premier League defeat last week to Chelsea. City will possibly already be overtaken by rivals Manchester United before this match kicks off, and will want to finish this match back at the top of the pile.
The 2-1 loss to Chelsea came so close after City’s disappointing exit from the Champions League, that fans may be worried that their may be a slight lack of confidence going into this huge game against The Gunners.
Just two points clear at the top of the league before the lunchtime game between QPR and Manchester United, City may well find themselves a point behind United prior to this match.
There is no doubting Manchester City’s quality, and after scoring 49 goals in their opening 15 league games, it is clear that The Citizens are a force to be reckoned with.
Arsenal too are putting a great run of form together; 7 wins and a draw since their defeat to Tottenham back at the beginning of October.
Robin Van Persie has been inspirational this season with 15 goals in 15 games, and has been the driving force behind Arsenal’s recovery after a poor start to the campaign.
There is no doubt that this could be a season defining game for both teams. A win for City would display their ability to bounce back from disappointment, against an if form team.
Three red cards were shown in the two league meetings between City and Arsenal last season
A win for Arsenal could put them right back in the chase for the Premier League title, something that would be laughed at had you mentioned it back in October.
This has the makings of a classic match, one that should not be missed at any cost.
