Liverpool v Everton – Toffees Have The Form To Cause Reds Problems

Kick Off: Tuesday 13th March
Live on Sky Sports 1 8.00pm

Everton make the short journey to Anfield on Tuesday night to take on arch rivals Liverpool, and recent form suggests that David Moyes’ team have a real chance of exacting revenge for their 2-0 defeat by the Reds at Goodison Park back in October. However if they are to beat Liverpool on their own patch there is a fair bit of history they will have to overcome- They haven’t beaten their rivals at Anfield since 1999.

The rivalry between Liverpool and Everton is arguably the strongest in the top flight, and recent form can quite often be thrown out of the window when it come to clashes between the two.

Everton do however come into this huge game in fantastic fettle; undefeated in their last 9 games in all competitions with high profile wins over Tottenham (1-0), Chelsea (2-0) and Manchester City (1-0).

Liverpool are playing well enough but are failing where it matters most- in front of goal. Despite lifting the Carling Cup a few weeks ago, it took penalties to separate them from Championship side Cardiff City, and since that victory they have failed in their latest two league games to pick up a single point.

Their losses against Sunderland (0-1) at the weekend and Arsenal (1-2) previously are not the ideal preparation for this clash, and Everton will fancy their chances of picking up their first win at Anfield in nearly 13 years.

Liverpool are priced up at 8/11 with Paddy Power to take the win, and in my opinion these odds are far too short for a side struggling to win games. Everton are 4/1 with the same firm, and considering the purple patch they are currently in, these odds strike me as real value.

While Everton have history stacked against them here, they are playing out of their skins, and I can’t let the 4/1 just slip through my fingers without an investment.
