Leicester City V Chelsea Live – Can Foxes Pile Misery On Struggling Champions?
Leicester City V Chelsea
Monday 14th December. 8PM. Sky Sports 1
Monday Night Football comes live from the King Power stadium as Claudio Ranieri looks to get one over his former employer as Leicester take on Chelsea.
Incredibly, it’s the Foxes that can go top with a victory but they know that they’re in for a tough ride against the champions, especially after last weekend’s home loss to Bournemouth. Whatever happens, it should be a thrilling spectacle.
Come on.
Can Vardy Get The Party Restarted
After breaking the record against Manchester United two weeks ago, last weekend saw Jamie Vardy’s phenomenal run of scoring in 11 consecutive games come to an end. However, the England man was still in fine form as he helped the Foxes claim a vital 3-0 win at Leicester.
In the absence of Vardy’s goals, it was Riyad Mahrez who stepped up to the plate to bag a hat-trick against the Swans. However, Ranieri will be equally pleased to have seen his side keep a rare clean sheet. If they can continue that improved defensive record, they’ll have a far greater chance of keeping up this title challenge.
The hosts will feel like there’s never been a better time to face Chelsea. Not only are they enduring a torrid season domestically, but Wednesday’s Champions League match has given the Foxes more preparation time.
It’s been a crazy Premier League season thus far. Could we be in for yet another twist here?
Champions In Dire Need Of Points
If Leicester’s position seems shocking, then Chelsea’s predicament is nothing short of mind-blowing. Quite frankly, if the Blues don’t improve soon, they could enter the Christmas period potentially sitting in the relegation zone. While nobody would ever consider them under serious threat, their league campaign is already over even at this premature stage.
Last week’s home loss to Bournemouth was another low, but the midweek triumph over Porto has restored some confidence. Moreover, there’s no doubting that the Stamford Bridge club are still blessed with quality all over the pitch. If they perform as they can, there’s no reason that they can’t start a turnaround here.
In truth, this could be the perfect game for Chelsea to do just that. While Leicester are in great form, they have conceded 12 goals in just seven home matches. If Jose Mourinho can get Diego Costa and Eden Hazard to provide the goods, they can put an end to Leicester’s run.
The Blues did claim a 3-1 win in last season’s corresponding fixture. A repeat scoreline on Monday night could get their season back on track on style. It’s a clash that could go either way, and we can’t wait to see what happens.
Leicester City V Chelsea Betting
Despite the stats, it’s Chelsea that enter this clash as the favourites with Bet365. The bookmaker has priced them at 5/4 to win Monday’s encounter while the hosts are available at 11/5. The draw can be backed at 12/5.
Leicester’s incredible season, combined with Chelsea’s clear deficiencies should give the home side every chance of scoring. Nevertheless, the champions can’t see their slump go on much longer, and we’re backing the visitors to prevail.
At odds of 10/3, the BTTS & Win market looks a real player.
[quote_center]BTTS & Chelsea Win @ 10/3 with Bet365[/quote_center]Chelsea could need a big performance from a star player to bring that win, though, and last year’s PFA Player of the Year has to be a great candidate.
Hazard has to end his Premier League duck sooner rather than later, especially if Mourinho does play him up top once more. Even if the visitors don’t claim the win, we’re backing the Belgian to score.
