German Bundesliga Tips 4/5th May – Get On Goals In Bremen
Well, what a fantastic week it has been for German football. I think this was the penultimate season for German football, finally being recognised as one of the best leagues in the world with both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund reaching the Champions League Final at Wembley, knocking out arguably the 2 most dominant forces in Europe over the last 20 years in Real Madrid and Barcelona.
I couldn’t think of a better way to finish the week off, oh wait a minute, how about a Champions League Final preview this weekend? Yes, Bayern Munich travel to the Westfalenstadion to take on their Champions League Final opponents Borussia Dortmund, just one of many fascinating games this weekend. Here’s the fixtures for Matchday 32 of the Bundesliga!
Friday 3rd May
Borussia Monchengladbach v Schalke 04
Saturday 4th May
Stuttgart v Greuther Furth
Hannover v Mainz
Werder Bremen v Hoffenheim
Nurnburg v Bayer Leverkusen
Eintracht Frankfurt v Fortuna Dusseldorf
Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich
Sunday 5th May
Freiburg v Augsburg
Hamburg v Wolfsburg
I was happy with my selections from last week. The NAP won and also got 5 winners from the 8 posted. This week is a little different. With it nearing the end of the season, teams bring up performances that are unexpected which make the games a lot harder to call. I will do a write up of the games I would place bets on, but will also be giving my predictions for the outcomes of the other games.
A few people have messaged me asking if I have a tip for the Dortmund v Bayern game; I don’t. This game is a nightmare to call and I will be watching just for the quality that will be on show. If you are considering a bet for the game, then take note that Bayern havent taken Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Robben or Ribery to Dortmund with them for the game.
Werder Bremen v Hoffenheim
Possibly the biggest game this season for both clubs, a real relegation battle. Werder sit in 14th, only 2 points above the relegation play off spot while Hoffenheim are 17th, in the relegation zone, 3 points off the play off spot and in real trouble.
Werder are having real problems. A few weeks ago the club suspended 2 key players in Marko Arnautovic and Eljero Elia after they were caught speeding. Both players have been suspended by the club until the end of the season. This just causes more problems for the team and will not help squad morale heading towards the end of the season, never mind missing out on 2 of their best players in very important games. Kevin De Bruyne will return for Bremen however, a massive boost.
Hoffenheim are in an even worse position than Bremen. They need to get out of the drop zone as soon as possible, and a win here will significantly help their chances. Hoffenheim are the more inform team of the 2, only losing 2 of their last 7 games and winning 3, compared to a Bremen side who havent won in 10 games!
I cannot see a tight encounter here, both teams have no choice but to go all out. I dont think the quality of football will be fantastic, but it will be end to end and will be full of goals.
Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 4/7. This is my NAP for the week, but I really dont want to take that price as it is horrible. I will be waiting until inplay after 10/15 mins and staking when the odds have gotten a little higher, I certainly wont be taking anything under 8/11.
STATS:
Werder have averaged 3.25 total goals in their last 8 home games.
Hoffenheim have averaged 2.875 total goals in their last 8 away games, and over 2.5 goals has come in 6 of their last 7 games, as well as their last 5 away games.
Hannover v Mainz
Another potentially great game. Hannover are known for their goal fests, especially at home, but I’m not sure if this will be the case in this game.
Hannover relegated Greuther Furth last week in a quality game. They won 3-2, scoring the winner in the 87th minute through Sergio Pinto. It was well deserved in what was an epic encounter.
Mainz on the other hand have really fallen away as of late. They have been crippled with injuries to key players and will have to rotate the squad again to field a decent side this weekend. They have only won 2 games since the turn of the year which has virtualyl ruined any chance of playing in European competition next season. Both teams can still mathematically qualify and I would love to see Mainz in the Europa League next season to see how they do, but I just cannot see it.
Bet: Hannover WIN at 11/8. I think this is a very good price for a team who have won 8, drawn 3 and lost only 3 at home all season, especially against a weakened Mainz side who have really dropped off lately. Mainz have only won 3 games away all season.
Those are my 2 bets for this week, if you only want to pick one then definitely the over 2.5 goals bet in the Bremen v Hoffenheim game. Here’s my predictions for the other weekend fixtures:
Stuttgart v Greuther Furth – Stuttgart win
Nurnburg v Bayer Leverkusen – Leverkusen win
Eintracht Frankfurt v Fortuna Dusseldorf – Eintracht win
Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich – Score Draw
Freiburg v Augsburg – Freiburg win
Hamburg v Wolfsburg – Score Draw
