The French Open Gets under way at Roland Garros on Sunday morning and we’ve researched the matches thoroughly, and we have come up with some gems to get us started for this tournament. While Rafa Nadal is considered a banker at odds on to win yet another clay title, there is plenty of value to be found in some of the lesser games, and even more in the specials market. Here are our best bets for the first day of the tournament.

Adrian Mannarino +6.5 games v Fabio Fognini – (4/5 – Bet365)
The handicap for this match just looks too big here. Even though its an early match still expect the French crowd to get behind the local player which can be a big advantage. Neither player is in great form, Mannarino has been playing a few challenger events while Fognini has only won 1 out his last 6 games. Fognini should eventually get through here but we see Mannarino covering the handicap.
Marin Cilic to win 3-0 v Daniel Munoz-De La Nava – (8/11 – StanJames)
Big difference in class here, we can only see Cilic having a comfortable win here at a nice price too. Cilic has looked solid this year especially on serve, we can’t see him getting broke too much here which should result in him having a straight sets win. 110 places in the rankings separate them and that should show.
Andy Roddick v Nicolas Mahut (4/6 – Sky Bet)
Roddick may not be in the best of form at the moment but we expect him to come through this one. Even on the best of days Mahut always makes things difficult and we see him just making too many mistakes to win this match. Not only does Roddick have a 4-0 head to head here, and a much higher ranking, but this is clay and it only favours Roddick. It’s not Roddick’s favourite surface but its one he can still play on, while Mahut has only recorded 42 wins on the surface- losing 51. Expect Roddick to take this one.
