Football Tips Sunday 19th August – A Couple of Hidden Gems
One thing I love to do on the morning of some big games is to trawl the less popular betting markets in search of some great value, and today I think I’ve uncovered a couple of great looking bets at real value odds.
The nature of some of these markets make it difficult for bookmakers to price up, and quite often there is a marked difference in their opinion. Here I’ve jumped on the best value odds available…
Manchester City v Southampton 4.00pm
Manchester City are overwhelming favourites at around 1/5 to ease past Premiership new boys Southampton today, and while I think they will win easily enough, at those short odds it just doesn’t appeal.
Delving further, I found that Sky Bet are offering 4/6 that Manchester City score in both halves. To me this is a cracking bet and something I’ve just had to invest in.
The first game of the season is always a highly charged affair, and I’m taking City to blast out of the blocks and grab at least 1 goal in each half.
Wigan v Chelsea 1.30pm
The DW stadium has always been a happy hunting ground for Chelsea, and at around 4/6 I wouldn’t put you off backing Chelsea for the outright win.
However, another bet I like the look of at much juicier odds is the HT/FT double result. Wigan generally keep things very tight in the first half when at home, and I’m taking them to keep Chelsea out until at least half time.
As the match progresses I expect Chelsea’s quality to tell and pay dividends, so the Draw/Chelsea double result at 4/1 with BetVictor looks huge value.
Wigan powered through the last couple of months of last term, and they should be able to keep Chelsea out for a reasonable amount of time.
