Arsenal v Tottenham Preview – Can Villa-Boas’ Men Earn Their Spurs At The Emirates?

Tottenham_hotspur_logoKick Off: Sunday 1st September
Live on TV: 4.00pm Sky Sports 1

The current Premier League season has barely got off the ground, but the curtain will be well and truly raised on Sunday, with two sets of bitter rivals going toe-to-toe. First up is Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United at Anfield. Then Arsenal welcome Tottenham – actually, ‘welcome’ is probably not the right word – to the Emirates. It’ll be a ‘Super Sunday’ alright.

Since the inception of the Premier League, matches between Arsenal and Spurs have yielded a total of 124 goals – more than any other head-to-head in the English top-flight under its current guise – and 13 of the last 14 north London derbies have delivered over 2.5 goals (Paddy Power go 8/11 that it’ll be more of the same this weekend), while the last two fixtures in the Gunners’ backyard have produced no less than 14 goals.

Premier League 2012/13 – A Few Irreverent Thoughts And Some Quality Betting Specials

Barclays Premier LeagueThe start of the 2013/14 Premier League season is now within spitting distance. Good times. I am excited, but I’m also concerned about a couple of things…

Will BT Sport and Sky Sports be fit to broadcast?

One of my concerns is whether BT Sport and Sky Sports will actually be fit to broadcast in time for the opening day of the season proper, August 17.

Plenty of dust needs to settle first. Indeed, so busy are BT Sport and Sky Sports, part of BSkyB, slugging it out for consumer attention – with marketing hyperbole being frivolously splattered across billboards here, there and everywhere – that they may actually lose sight of their primary purpose: broadcasting.

Tottenham Hotspur Latest Transfer News On Gareth Bale

Tottenham_hotspur_logoThere are plenty of transfer rumours surrounding Tottenham’s star striker Gareth Bale, but the first problem Real Madrid has is that spurs have placed a ridiculous price tag on Bale of £105 million pounds. Real Madrid’s Coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke with the club president Florentino Pérez and announced that he will not be considering Bale in his plans this season.

After Real Madrid’s last game against Inter Milan Carlo Ancelotti said “Why talk about Bale when Jesé Rodríguez and Alvaro Morata have both played so well. They are young but incredibly talented.”

World Athletics Championships – Merritt Value To Beat Oliver 110 Metre Hurdles

AthleticsLooking ahead to day three of the World Athletics Championships in Moscow on Monday, one of the six gold medals that will be handed out will include the men’s 110m hurdles, and it promises to be a truly cracking final.

Olympic gold medallist Aries Merritt, defending champion Jason Richardson and David Oliver, who has been the season’s leading light in this discipline, all won their respective heats in good style on Sunday morning.

Richardson may struggle to retain his crown this year – bookies certainly believe so, he’s a top-priced 25/1 at the time of writing – but unless Frenchman Thomas Martinot-Lagarde can pull something special out of the bag, the 27-year-old should qualify along with fellow American Merritt from the first semi-final on Monday.

Premier League Opinion 2013/14 – We Ask Female ‘Pundits’ Their Views

Barclays Premier LeagueThe opinions which really count…
It is that time of year, pre season, where experts are asked for their view on how the Premier League season is going to pan out. These predictions have a tendency to be funnily enough…predictable, and once you’ve read one of these from an ageing ex-footballer come pundit you have read them all.

In an effort to mix things up a little and get a bit of feminine contribution around these male dominant web pages, I have asked for the time of TEN FEMALE ‘pundits’, who have confessed they know absolutely nothing about football, for their answers on the big questions….
