At this stage of the season, experience could be key, and the hosts will be looking to leading scorer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for inspiration in this crucial battle. The 32-year-old has eight league goals to his name this term and, with the support of Eric Choupo-Moting, Max Meyer and co, will be confident about firing the home side to success.

The hosts have been fairly solid at home, winning seven and losing just three of 13 matches at the Veltins. If they perform to their potential, there’s no reason that they shouldn’t register what would probably be their most important win of the campaign.

Monchengladbach Happy With A Point

As things stand, Andre Schubert’s visitors are just about in pole position for fourth place and, frankly, they’d be more than happy to keep it that way on Friday night. Not least because their away form is so bad.

Monchengladbach boast just three wins away from Borussia Park, with their leaky defence the main cause of problems. A record of 26 conceded in 12 matches isn’t good enough and that needs to be tighter against a formidable opponent. However, they can at least take confidence from the fact they’ve also scored 21.

Meanwhile, the visitors can also look to October’s 3-1 home win for inspiration ahead of this fierce Friday night battle. If they can get the service to 13-goal striker Raffael, then they’ve every chance of leaving Gelsenkirchen with a positive result.
