Galatasaray travel to Besiktas today in search of maximum points to go with their opening day 2-1 win over Super Lig new boys Kasimpasa.

Kasimpasa made Galatasaray work for their victory, and it’s likely that Besiktas will make it every bit as hard for the Champions to maintain their 100% record.

Besiktas began their 2012/13 campaign with a 1-1 draw at Istanbul BB last weekend, which was an acceptable result but they will need to start winning soon to stave away a drop in confidence after a disappointing season last term.

As if Galatasaray aren’t confident enough already, it has been 7 months since their last away defeat in all competitions (0-1 v Bursaspor in Jan); a record that has seen them win 6 and draw 2 of their 8 games.

Fresh from a Super Cup win over arch rivals Fenerbahce a couple of weeks ago, Galatasaray will look to put pressure on all teams very early this season to retain their title which they had to wait for for so long considering the size of the club.

The visitors deserve to be favourites for this game but they shouldn’t expect an easy win here. Besiktas has been a hard place for Galatasaray to take points from over the years, but their fortunes have improved in the last year or so.

Galatasaray’s last visit resulted in a 2-0 win back in April, with Melo and Yilmaz securing the points.
