It seems like forever ago I was sat watching Arjen Robben score a 90th minute goal to beat Dortmund in the Champions League final and ever since that date, I have been counting down the days to the new Bundesliga season.

A lot has happened over the summer, plenty of names coming and going from every club, the most noticeable being at Bayern Munich with the arrival of Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara, along with their new manager Pep Guardiola.

The other big clubs have been spending a pretty penny too, with Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke all spending plenty. Infact them 4 clubs combined have spent over £130m of the £180m spent by Bundesliga clubs so far in this transfer window.

It is that time of year, pre season, where experts are asked for their view on how the Premier League season is going to pan out. These predictions have a tendency to be funnily enough…predictable, and once you’ve read one of these from an ageing ex-footballer come pundit you have read them all.

Tottenham Hotspur say Goodbye to Dempsey

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed they will be saying goodbye to Clint Dempsey after just one year at White Hart Lane.

Spurs have agreed a transfer for Dempsey to Major League Soccer and Seattle Sounders, have confirmed his move.

30 year old Dempsey signed with Spurs in a £6 million pound deal in 2012 from Fulham. He made 12 appearances for Tottenham and scored 12 goals, but he dropped down the pecking order after Spurs signed Roberto Soldado from Valencia.

The main event in terms of prestige at Glorious Goodwood on Saturday is the Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes, and there’s little doubt that Sky Lantern is the class act in this Group 1 contest for fillies and mares.

Given that she’s a 1000 Guineas and Coronation Stakes winner, the standout 5/2 on offer with William Hill about the daughter of Red Clubs will do for many punters. However, the forgotten horse is HOT SNAP who is too good to miss at 9/1 with Sky Bet in my opinion.

PSG vs Bordeaux – 7.45pm

First stop France and the Super Cup. Paris have invested heavily over the summer, the landmark signing being Edison Cavani who has been on the wish-lists of all of the top clubs over the last year. Bordeaux have only signed one player over the summer; Jeremie Brechet on a free transfer from Troyes. This should be a formality for PSG, however there haven’t been many goals between these two in recent memory.
